Little Pumpkin Baby Shower!

Last year, I hosted a Little Pumpkin Baby Shower for my fabulous neighbor, Rashida. It is SUCH a fun shower theme for this time of year! I did some research and then executed a fun and fabulous plan!

I ordered these ADORABLE invitations from Candles and Favors.com and matching favors tags too!

Made this cute little diaper wreath following Crafster.orgs Diaper Wreath Tutorial I used a double wire wreath form from Hobby Lobby and blue and brown ribbon that I weaved around the diapers. (The preemie diapers from Dollar General are perfect for this project!) The possibles for decorating this wreath are ENDLESS and its SUPER easy!!!

I followed Katydidandkid’s Banner Tutorial to make Baby David's banner!

My house was already decorated for fall so the Pumpkin theme fell right into place. (I found this little bib in the dollar section at Target. The had really cute lil pumpkin bowls but as usual, I forgot to take pictures of the food.)

I set up a little inspiration and advice station. Each guest had a piece of card stock to write on. After the shower I turned it into a little book and gave it to the mommy-to-be.

I LOVE fall and cannot wait to see Rashida and David's lil pumpkin turn ONE!

I think I have nursery envy!!!!

I just happened upon a really fabulous baby site called Spearmint Baby and while cruising around I saw Katelyn's nursery! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Katelyn's nursery!!

I LOVE her bedding!!! Its Harlow by Cocalo Couture

I LOVE her name banner!!!! and that her mommy posted the "how to"

I LOVE the little accents and the Banana Split Yellow walls!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the year countdown frame that her friend made for her!

I love that her mommy even shared her inspiration nursery!

What I LOVE LOVE LOVE most of all is that the bedding also comes in big girl sizes! I'm thinking when it's time to upgrade Baby K's room, we may just have to turn to Katelyn's nursery for inspiration!!!

Love it!!

Little Pumpkin Baby Shower - Planning Phase

I'm loving fall SOOOOOOO much that I decided to change the entire theme for the baby shower that I'm hosting. (Someone just needs to get pregnant so I can revisit the "She's About To Pop" Theme, any takers?) Since every one's autumn decorations are up I thought it would be the PERFECT time of year to have a "Little Pumpkin" themed shower. After all, I call my lil one's pumpkins all the time!

After seeing THESE invitations, I knew I had made the right decision. SUPER CUTE, right?

And THESE favor tags just sent me OVER THE EDGE!!!!
These cute little dudes will go on bags of roasted pumpkin seeds with a note that says, Thanks for celebrating Rashida's Little Pumpkin. David Noah will be "sprouting" soon!

The folks over at Plan The Perfect Baby Shower have these super cute Lil' Pumpkin Trivia Games. I think I'll follow their lead but incorporate some baby facts in there too.

The Pumpkin Lady has a FABULOUS tutorial for these ADORABLE Chalkboard Pumpkins.
I'm planning to paint baby faces on then and write out baby's name!

The FOOD ideas are endless.

Pecans.... Pears...Maple Balsamic Dressing!!!! Can you say Tyler Florence's Fall Salad???? MY MOUTH IS WATERING!!!

Pumpkin Spice Popcorn!!!!

We are having a traditional cake so i thought I would make a bite sized version of Better Homes and Gardens Harvest Time Pumpkin Bars.

AND Better Homes and Garden's Gingersnap Crumble Pumpkin Parfaits.

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

Hellga over at Craftster.org posted this fabulous tutorial for a diaper wreath.
I cannot wait to make the Little Pumpkin version.

I just made this SUPER CUTE Banner that Kathleen has posted on her blog. Cannot wait for the shower so I can hang it up.

I'll post photo's after the shower. Happy Fall Y'all!!!

"She's about to POP!" Planning Phase

I am hosting a baby shower for our neighbor, Rashida. She's one of those really tiny ladies that really does look like she is going to POP, so I think it is the perfect theme for her shower!

I got a hint of the "she's about to pop" theme at a shower I attended last year. The party favors were cute lil' bags of popcorn with a note that read, "Heather's little bundle of joy will be popping out soon! Thank you for being part of her special day. We are so glad you could stop by to play!"

Then I saw THIS on Me and My Insanity's Blog

Popcorn, soda pop, lollipops!!! All sorts of fun "pops" to work with! If you are planning a She's About To Pop shower for someone expecting a girl you will LOVE her invitation idea.

Check out THESE invitations..

Since Rashida is having a boy, I decided to go with these invitations

The circles remind me of bubbles (who doesn't love to pop bubbles) and the colors match her nursery. I cannot wait to stop in to Popcorn Papa for BLUE POPCORN and I plan to use blue and brown Tootsie Pops!

I think I'll even have a little bubble wrap, so the guests can "make a wish and pop some bubbles for baby." Who doesn't love bubble wrap.

I think this Jiffy Pop Thank You idea would make a cute party favor too!

This is a super cute lolliPOP idea from The Craft Patch, that can be used as decor and a gift! I was planning on making a diaper wreath but may try to do a diaper version of these burp cloth pops.

I also LOVE this "cupcake" idea from Suzanne!

She took a snack cup and used it for the bottom of the cupcake. Then she took a baby washcloth and covered it. Inside she placed assorted baby items. For the icing part, she used a soft baby ball and wrapped diapers around it. Then took another washcloth and tied it around the diaper ball. She placed the ball on top. She used the lid to the cup as it's plate. TOO CUTE!!!

I plan to incorporate Donna Hay's super SASSY idea for the soda pop bottles!

Just wanted to share the shower plans. I cannot wait for everyone to POP on over and celebrate baby time!!! -wink- Yes, I had to go there.

Tara

"Welcome To The Jungle"

Kendall got to experience a Texas tradition for the first time this morning...Whataburger! They just built a brand new one in our town.
(It's right in front of our new 24 Hour Fitness... tee hee...... There's nothing worse than running your booty off on the treadmill and sweating it out in a spinning class, just to have to face the temptation of a Whataburger taquito!)

I know it sounds kind of silly to call it a "tradition" but if you grew up in Texas, you've eaten a Breakfast Taquito from Whataburger. I didn't realize that they weren't all over the country until I lived in Iowa and everyone looked at me like I was nuts when I suggested we go to Whataburger for taquitos. (it was "back in the day" and at around 2am.....if you grew up in Texas and ever drank beer you know EXACTLY what I mean!) Kendall was more than willing to pose with a Whatabuger cup and her taquito! Her favorite part was the music playing inside. That girl loves to dance! We tried to think of a way to get a taquito in to Baby K's bottle but decided we should wait on her full Whataburger experience for awhile.
I went to a great baby shower today for my friend Heather. (It was kind of nice not being the pregnant chick, for once!) Its the first baby shower I have been too for a boy in years and oddly enough, the next 2 that I have been invited too are also for boys.

Anyway, I love creative ideas and her shower was packed FULL of them. To follow her jungle nursery theme, the hostesses went all out. They had a cd of jungle sounds playing when we arrived and filled the living room with trees and stuffed jungle animals.....All gifts for the baby. My favorite was the little monkey's hanging in the trees.

Then they took animal print scrapbook paper and hung it over the photos on the mantle with a garland of Ben's nickname hanging below. Too cute and a super inexpensive idea. (I'm sure they plan to pass the paper on to Heather to use in her baby scrapbook.)

Check out about these FABULOUS party favors:
Little bags of popcorn, with a note attached that read:
Heather's little bundle of joy will be popping out soon!
Thank you for being part of her special day.
We are so glad you could stop by to play!
I'm thinking some blue popcorn from Popcorn Papa would be a really cute and yummy addition to that idea.
Speaking of Baby Shower Favors... The Tip Junkie (the goddess of blogging!!!) has tons of links for ya! http://tipjunkie.blogspot.com/2009/04/baby-shower-party-favors.html

Have a great day!
